Anthurium By Ratte
An odd tropical plant symbolizing hospitality, happiness, and abundance.
Something for Mothers Day. Normally I ask people who they think I should depict for Mothers/Fathers Day but it's been a long time since I last drew Aten.
This was the first time I got to use my new paper. It's much heavier than what I was using before (140lb vs 80lb) and it stands up to a lot more of my abuse, which is really nice. The actual painting is not very large as the paper I used was from a 5x7" journal-style pad. This was also the first time I got to use my new scanner, which despite sounding like nails on a chalkboard it does a good job and I have no complaints. It's nice having my own hardware.
I probably should have pressed the paper longer or under something heavier, but I was working with what I had. I hope you don't mind the bits of blurriness in some parts. The last time I made a watercolor painting was over a year ago so I hope this doesn't look too bad. It's something I'd like to get back into now that I'm in a place with better lighting and more privacy, provided I can stay at or above my $500 goal. I'd like to poke at other media, too, of course.
