I think his "dark side" came reeeeeallly close to getting free. Thank God Flora was there, or this could have been very, very bad.

You're probably right unlike the other times we don't hear what Trace is hearing so he could have just lied about not hearing Dark Trace, his eyes did go dead for a moment and he did call Keidran scum.

You know, I actually want "dark-trace" to come out. Just to see what Tom does with him. Because, there's a much bigger picture going on and only "dark-trace" might know what that is and I'm not taking about the war. I have a feeling the war is just a distraction for something else.

Is it possible that Dark Trace has transferred itself into the mansion? He, Rose and it are obviously magically linked somehow. Maybe that's why Maren got abducted: Dark Trace and a grief ridden part of Roses subconscious are trying to replace Saria?

Cironnu. I don't know. To me, it appears that Trace might not have "normal" amnesia. But, he's been mentally split in half. He's unbalanced, one side trying to be in control. That might explain why good/light-Trace has none of his powers and very little memory. While, evil/dark-Trace has all the power and all his memories... He needs to become whole again, he needs to face his demons/past. Because, sooner or later the past always catches up with you.

Nah, that seemed like some kind of long-dormant "program" spell that activated when Maren touched the magic table and it (and/or the apparently sentient things overseeing it) became aware of her in the mansion. The mansion has many hidden things, both magical and not, so I don't think Dark Trace or Rose are responsible for what's going on.

Maren herself said Trace was "kind of" her boyfriend, and never knew what she meant to him. I'd bet upon realizing how much she looked like Saria, he put into motion a plan to "resurrect" her using Maren's body. Maybe some kind of soul necromancy stuff. And he pretended to be interested in her to gain her trust, until he could spring the trap at the mansion. Said trap wasn't sprung until recently, so it's just been waiting.
