  • Good german engineering by the Messerschmidt factories, sadly it was for a senseless reason

It's perfectly reasonable to try getting the upper hand in war.
The fact their leaders made use of the marvelous (and deadly) machines in a pointless struggle against unavoidable defeat does not make the hard work of the inventors pointless.

  • You gotta hand it to the Germans. In WWI They had the best optics around, hence so many stories about German snipers from back then, not to mention Big Bertha(I think that was German?) and the Paris Gun. And then that military technology leap done mostly in secret preparing for WWII, and even during WWII. They even built the predecessor of the B-2 stealth bomber, the first ever flying wing, not to mention jet powered aircraft. Oh, and nuclear weapons? Yeah they could have used them before us, granted not in the same form as the weapons we used(it would have been a 'dirty' bomb, which entailed detonating nuclear particles higher up in the atmosphere to rain down irradiated dust particles across large swaths of land, such as all of NYC, probably even larger than that, had they been able to reach it). Agreed, with the out of control trainwreck engineered by Hitler, a lot of the actions taken near the end of the war were pointless. Gotta love advances in technology though!

    *sigh*
How I dislike the fact that by the avarage internet user (not exclusively furries) everything that takes more than 2 minutes to read no matter how smart gets TL;DR-ed.

I mean the war was pointless. To get the upperhand at war is a good reason to research things, but if you have to use your weapons something got wrong or?

  • The Me262 was a plane way ahead of its time; if the plane would've been built in 1942; it would've definitely won the war for Nazi Germany/ THe technology it brought gave the allies, mainly the US and Russia, the technology that 5 years later would be put to the test in the skies over the 38th parallel (that's Korea) where former allies, not turned adsversaries fielded planes with similar advantages and technology born of the Me262; the Mikoyan Guverych MiG-15 and the North American Aviation F-86 Sabre.

  • Fun fact: The wings are swept reduce drag and bring the center of thrust inward more. Speed was never even a consideration c:

Also, it's guns were somewhat unreliable. So even though one 30mm round can down a B-17, jams can be frequent. Oh, and the engines only had a flight life of about 90 hours before needing to be replaced. And that's if you rode her gingerly.

Is it good? Nobody will ever know since it never got a true chance to contribute. Fast? Hell yea it was fast.

Also spectacular art. It looks so... definite.

  • Ahhh, the venerable ME 262 the greatest German engineering during WW2. Unfortunately a little too late to turn the tide of war for the axis, still though it's great engineering marvel for its time, and boast some of the advance aeronautical design ,that would later be employed by the allies after the war in the age of jets. It's truly an amazing feat for German engineering, it was great accomplishment and tragedy of its deployment in the war.

p-51 is one of the few allied planes that can fight against a 262... and win. Also is the best fighter of WW2

Oh, of course -facepaw- For some reason I didn't understand the context of your comment. Yeah, between the 262s design and it's terrible engines, a fighter like the p-51 could easily face it down. Especially in the low numbers they were produced in. It's a shame, too, considering the breakthrough technology the 262 represented. But damn lucky for us.

The only thing, why the Americans are be able to get the two Atom bombs, was... They stealing some German Documents and thus ended the race between Germany and the USA. you can imagine it like that. The Germans had plans for atomic bombs, the Americans had plans for atomic bombs. But the Germans and Americans each had 50% of the plans.

Why sarcasm? I mean, of course, the maneuverability sucked, but it doesn't lack speed and firepower. In the first few months, the German 20 Allied bombers shot down and only three jets lost. So if that's not a good performance?
