Guessing this is before she had the long braid she has in some of the other pictures. She's probably used to her hair being a tangled, knotted mess that she only combs to keep from getting dreadlocked. This is the first time she's seen herself like that. That she could be "pretty" and girly, in some fashion even with the scars.
