    Yeah.... the artist bent the ankle/heel in the wrong direction, is what it boils down to. Additionally, they wanted to do a toe-curl, but they bent the entire foot.The joint they bent at a right-angle in the 15th panel basically needs to be rotated about 100 degrees downward from where it is now to appropriately depict the digitigrade leg; the top of the foot should still be pressed against the surface of the bed. After that, they could then curl the toes.

    He's got digitigrade legs. If you think of the last limb as a really long foot attached to an ankle joint it'll give you an idea of what the movement range should be. Needless to say ankles don't bend all the way back like a knee.
