"Don't tread on me" is from the Gadsden flag. and it is a very important thing to remember for the U.S. "Don't tread on me" means "don't try to take away my rights". the rattlesnake is symbolizing our 2nd amendment and how the citizens can overthrow the government when it becomes tyrannical. Alot of people take the gadsen flag and use it for their own purposes too which is a disgrace to the original meaning, it has no political orientation except for obviously telling people to fuck off and not take our rights away
