In old school Japanese mythology, ALL ghosts are vengeful/dangerous spirits. If they weren't vengeful/dangerous, they wouldn't be ghosts in the first place.

Well thats the thing about old school Japanese mythology. Even if you were innocent and nice in life, if you become a ghost because someone cursed you, you AUTOMATICALLY become a vengeful/dangerous spirit. Its a fucked up concept, but it makes for GREAT horror movie concepts.
