He has a pretty infamous history amongst the fandom. There's plenty of reading about him on Encyclopedia Dramatica, whom I normally wouldn't endorse, but most of the info about him on his page is accurate.

I won't fan the flames of hate here, but I will say that his history is a pretty damn entertaining read.
