MemberSo I know this seems like a minor thing, but I hate that this was already uploaded before, I'm pretty sure by me, using the -exact- same file, and somehow now the older file has slightly deteriorated in quality, making it eligible for replacement, meaning the old one will lose all its votes and comments and favourites, etc.
Is there some weird random reason that the old file has lost quality? Is there really no way to just update older files, and re-uploading the whole thing is just accepted as normal on the site? I don't like losing data and records n' all that, they're nice to go back and read, review, and help gauge what it is about certain successful pictures that I should learn from.
Anyway, might not seem like a huge deal, but to me as the artist it kind of bothers me. It'd be nice if there were a better way.

MemberActually the favorites will get transfered to the better version once the old one gets deleted but you're right about the votes and comments.

MemberI heard a while ago from someone that the data is transferred when the old post is deleted, but obviously that's not true because I would have favorited this already. If I knew this before I would have been campaigning for the data transfer all along. It seriously makes no sense that the data is just lost for no reason.
My inner numbers guy is displeased :/
Edit: made the comment before the post was deleted, favorite was transferred, however my upvote wasn't. Went from over 500 upvotes to 160. I agree that comments and upvotes should be transferred.

It seems like it was uploaded from Twitter, where it has lost its original quality with Twitter's jpeg compression.
As for post replacements, the comment loss from the deleted post is something that bothers me too. I think that comments should also be transferred between posts, just like the favorites. They're some kind of history and they should be preserved.
When I happen to upload a post with a better quality, I always put a link to the inferior version in the description, so you know that it was uploaded before and you can go there and read the old comments. That's all I can do to make this loss a little smaller.

This site has taught me that it is not that I am attracted to someone who is male or female but one who is feminine, and I am not attracted to masculinity. I don't know how this converts to non furry, but I like feminine furs.

JanitorWhat ebea57 said above is correct. The previous upload was sourced from Twitter, which compressesed the JPG further to expedite image loading at the cost of quality. Replacing the post with a less lossy version from Fur Affinity, Inkbunny, or other free and public gallery is standard practice for preservation.
I've added a link back to the deleted post in the description field for easier access. You can see all the comments preserved on the original post, as well as the original amount of upvotes. To find a deleted post manually, you can search for parent:2324273 status:deleted, where the parent is the current post ID.
I hope the above explanation is helpful.
