I really hate to say this - but you need to spend a little more time with the opposite sex. Be they 2 legged or 4 legged. :P

Human breasts are secondary sexual characteristic that matter to the male gender. And human breasts can stay bigger after getting a child.

I doubt horses look at tits so they basically have no reason to have big tits unless they nurse. Therefor the male won't chose the big titted femal to breed unlike the male humans did back in the day.

Oh - entirely my fault for mis-reading you.

Well - to put it quick terms - the background variation of the size of teats and udders is rather large and to an extent it matches the variation of boob-sizes in hominids.

Some mares do 'ave them - to paraphrase a famous series - even without having had foals. And since a lot of the tissue around the udder is more or less fat - when they really glow and shine, the udder tends to look a little full too. Mind you when it is really full with milk - it really shows, and the teats/nipples are definitely longer and fuller.

The nipple - the only intuitive user interface! :P
