I really think that people over-exaggerate the gruesomeness of the picture as a joke...I mean, it was nasty but not that nasty.

I've seen a lot worse (more gory) things on this site than the cheesegrater image, and they haven't gone down in infamy...

Either way, spectacle of a drawing this is!

I think the reason it struck a chord is that the very idea of pulling something out of such a sensitive area that's going to cut me up like that gives me an almost more visceral reaction than the idea of getting stabbed. The grating isn't like...overly gorey. The actual cut from something like that would be more akin to small thin cuts. Most of us don't know what it actually feels like to have extreme gore happen to us, but we do know what it's like to accidentally cut ourselves on a knife, and the idea of that very real pain that we can understand being put in an area like that makes me cringe.

Although, I will admit there are more gruesome pictures, and the cheese grater is not the worst I've ever seen. I think it's status as a meme projected out onto the fandom a type of genre at least most people haven't interacted with. It's the only gore picture most people who've seen the cheese grater have ever seen.

I remember it being a lot worse than it is. I guess it was the initial surprise of seeing it years ago for the first time without knowing it existed. I just looked up a mirror today and I wasn't even phased. Years of using the interner has changed me.

as someone who has shoved sharp stuff up my butt i would highly not recommend it. the scar will last a long while, meaning while the wound is still there nothing else can enter my rectum. it got to a point where i got anxiety attacks going to the bathroom knowing the pain i would have to endure. luckily i got some meds and got it mostly under control but the wound could still open. and this was all an accident so REALLY THINK ABOUT WHAT YOU PUT UP YOUR BUTT GUYS!
