It felt strange to read even then, considering Warning was stated to be a translator unit in the said post too and the job implies *constant* talking with others. T'was probably just a typo.

It may be the difference between her job function, which is communicating with organics, and the unit itself. The work can be done through comm devices, speakers, work panels, etc, and does not need Warning (the unit) to be there personally, allowing her to 'interact' with anyone/everyone, and (if needed/desired) her unit to interact with no one.
