Rockoons TV - by Cerberus ( https://www.furaffinity.net/user/cerberus/ )

After realising all the fun things I could try by having my own animated cover band, I decided to give my Rockoons crew a little more depth and thought.

This is effectively supposed to be the band’s first music video for television. The idea soon became the theme and this is what I ended up with.

Originally supposed to have been completed for FA United, but I started over about a quarter of the way through a cover of “Love in an Elevator” when I stumbled upon a far more inspiring and appropriate song. Delayed me muchly. Sorry Dragoneer =(

Milo - frontman, lead singer (shadowed one)

Leo - Lead guitar (red panda)

Redge - Bassist (long hair)

Nackten - Guitar

Sanni - Keyboard

  • Always loved Tirrel/Cerberus' animations and wish he still made them. Put a metal version of a Journey song with his animation talents and you have pure gold!

I really like this...but why does he sound like Axel Rose?

Because it's not Steve Perry or Journey, it's a cover. And he doesn't sound anything like Axl Rose (sounds more like Mark Slaughter) but then again I listen to tons of music like this so I can hear metal voices better than your average person.

Sadly, it is one of the many metal albums that is out of print and whose CDs go for ridiculous prices. However, someone on youtube posted the full album:

Alternatively you could find each individual song on youtube as well. There is a way to convert youtube videos like that into MP3s to listen offline. A site called MP3 Juice. If you go that route make sure you have an adblocker.

Youtube does already host AAC and OGG audio tracks to all of the videos hosted there, so I still have no idea why people want MP3s specifically. All you are doing is taking file that is perfectly good file that uses modern more efficient format which should work directly and making it worse quality and higher filesize, utilizing websites which may or may not do great job or even exsist in next two years.

Youtube-DL is usually the best software for ripping any video streams, but it doesn't handle audio only gracefully. Software like Jdownloader2 will make sure the audio only downloads are inside correct containers and even adds some great metadata for the file.

It was merely a suggestion. Not being an audiophile, MP3s work for me. I can barely tell the difference between what I hear on Youtube and what I hear on my MP3 player when I do this. Plus I rarely do it, I'm an old school collector of CDs and tend to just RIP them to Windows Media player. I only convert Youtube videos for long out of print albums that cost ridiculous amounts of money.

That was kinda my point. MP3 is fine enough, but ripping youtube stuff and converting to MP3 is like taking JPG and converting into GIF, that just makes zero sense and all you get is double the filesize with less detail. Still it's somehow normal and everyone desires it. But yeah, I can kinda see where I'm being the annoying nerd here.

CDs are somehow still the cheapest and best way to get lossless audio. At least you know when you rip it into FLAC it's actually FLAC (or AAC if just want it on the phone, ripping to MP3 still makes zero sense) and not some idiot on reddit ripping that are gameplay recordings from youtube and converting it into a FLAC like I have gotten with couple game soundtracks which even as non-audiophile it was immidiately clear that that ain't sounding exactly great while taking up hundreds of megabytes of space.

Oh yeah, also if someone does want this specific audio, just decompile the parent post flash and you will get actual MP3 with pristine 64kbps bitrate, so maybe even less ideal but that's one option :p

  • This was the first furry, well, *thing*, I saw. I saw it while browsing through Newgrounds. I'd be incorrect if I said this didn't start a series of events that would eventually lead me to browse this site daily.
