Well considering aside from a select few monsters you can't tell gender differences I don't think it bothers anyone. As long as you aren't referring to Teostra as a she when Lunastra exists or regular Diablos as a she when black Diablos exists I wouldn't think anyone would be bothered otherwise.

Regular Diablos can be a she. If she isn't in heat.
A pretty Mizutsune can't be a she, though.

Mizutsue can be female. The ones you fight in gen are all male though, females have duller colors, if I remember correctly. But I honestly am not that bothered by that as the color thing, as it is fairly obscure.
