Laura Survives AU

An Alternate Universe where Laura survived the island and made it to the point of meeting up with Team B, suggested by Baconcopter!

I suppose in this version of events while sailing back, instead of dealing with Laura's death the drama was over who Keith would choose. But then they realized there was a third option, and things just somehow managed to work out agreeably for all three. XD

Honestly wouldn't have minded the Harem route if it prevented poor Laura from being unceremoniously killed off.

I don't know, she died pretty ceremoniously.

Didn't do a damn thing to make it less painful to read. ._.

Keith becomes the protagonist of a harem anime.

I say it was unceremonious because it's painfully obvious she was killed off purely to keep the awkward and unnatural Keith/Natani ship going.

Clovis. Not likely, but it would be entertaining.

In the sense that the two characters have no chemistry whatsoever. Their personalities are diametrically opposed and a lot of the previous scenarios and their relationship have felt extremely forced. Doesn't help matters that Natani is just a glorified fanservice character that has been given more presence than she rightfully deserves. I felt Laura was much more relatable and compelling in comparison, despite her rather short time in the story.

And while I'm at it. Downvotes need to be removed from this site. It's unfair and pathetic that peoples opinions should get silenced because a bunch of fanboys can't take a little criticism.

3 things, first, i agree that the begining of their relationship was forced

second: i would like to know why you believe natani is just a glorified fanservice character, there are moments where we see natanis boobs just for the sake of fanservice, but not only this happens with about half of the cast, but at least in my opinion ,natani is give enough characterization and development, for example the plot about their gender identity, while not perfect, its made for the development of the character, not for fanservice, unless one is into gender discussions and third and least important: you are complaining of the downvote sistem because you believe its a childish thing or because you were the one whose comments were begin downvoted?, because i find hard to believe you never downvoted any comment that you dint like

  • Dude I come to this site to get wary from politics natani is a character who has character development how good that development is subjective but still makes sense given the universe the story takes place in so it shouldn’t be a problem as for the down votes it’s the only way to express descenting views without going into a long winded response like this one just enjoy the characters for who and what they are don’t worry about what people think of your opinions have them and if you get down voted so what just have fun on a site intended for for fun with furries

  • It's pretty enlightening that the topic of this image is Keith and Laura becoming members of NATANI's Pack, but then people in the comments claim it's Keith's harem, not Natani's.

I disagree. It feels as though Tom only used Laura to further the plot. I mean, the number of coincidences that occurred the moment Laura reentered the comic. Like, Trace just happens to get captured, Laura just happened to be carrying a locket with a mana stone needed to destroy the tower, and Laura HAPPENED to be the person to sacrifice themselves, die, get cremated, and reappear as a spirit all in the period of one arc???

And what was the payoff; Keith experiences a loss that he eventually carries on from, and we lose a character anyone barely got to know who, might I add, had to go through a whole mess of obstacles just to find Keith? Was killing off Laura even necessary? She could have survived the entire ordeal and just decided to stay friends with Keith and let him be with Natani. It's ridiculous to kill her off.
I haven't seen unnecessary killing off of minor characters like this since the Walking Dead. It's disappointing that he went down this path and chose this ending for Laura.

  • I don't care what Tom says. This is canon for me. It seems as though the fans can come up with better endings for characters than the creator himself.

Depends how you want to qualify "better". Harem ending is as much a cop-out as killing her off, especially given she and Natani had nowhere near enough interaction to even guess whether they'd be open to such a relationship. That said, at least it'd give Keith actual agency instead of Tom pre-empting him having to make a decision that would break half the fandom's heart.

Laura was a plot device, yes. She was already 3/4 through her life span, basically left Keith at the altar and hoped to make amends. She left everything behind in the hopes of seeing him again, and willingly spent a huge portion of her life waiting. And even wound up saving his life.
Beyond that she was an old woman, and the comic already had enough defenseless characters as it was. You see pictures like this and go "awww I wish..." But at the end of the day I seriously dont see her fitting in at all. Killing her was unnecessary, but leaving her behind or bringing her with them was unnecessary too.
Instead she was fuel for the natani / Keith ship.
Also she was fuel for his hatred for flora, and to show just how bad Keith's life sucked.

My man keith just can't catch a break.

Also, Ngl if it wasn't for laura screwing over Keith, and thereby making Keith return on his journey to find trace and bring him back, the templars would have the basitins by the balls right now and their king would probably be dead.
So really, laura set the story in motion. She's not a plot device. She is THE plot device.

You keep using the word "unnatural"

I do not think it mean what you think it means.
