The start of something fascinating. I'd love to see a fictional setting where humans and vampires are actually capable of having a rational discussion...

In mythology, silver is antithesis to evil in general. This is the origin of vampires supposedly not having reflections in mirrors, as they were originally created by painting the backside of the glass with silver. Thus an evil creature's reflection would be negated by it.
Weaponry such as silver knives were considered effective against vampires as well, and were often part of a "vampire hunter's kit" back in the era. Garlic and stakes just got more limelight in movies and such, and became more familiar.
This weakness has been carried through to modern times in many games like D&D, where silver weapons are often one of the only non-magical things that can hurt vampires (or sometimes undead in general.)

A Vampire with this demeanor wouldn't make the feeding lethal. Google says you'll die when you lose 2 liters. Your typical drink is only 350ish milliliters of liquid. Also logically? A willing donor that you can keep alive to feed from indefinitely is a ton more beneficial than gorging yourself once and then having to find someone else.

That silver mirror bit is nonsense. The same mythology says that vampires also don't have shadows, what's that got to do with silver? No reflection or shadow is supposed to mean that they don't have souls, not that there's something special going on with silver.
Plus, silver was seen more as evil detector than repellent. Something evil comes in contact with silver, it's supposed to tarnish. Iron is more an evil repellent metal in folklore and vampire hunters would sometimes use iron nails instead of wooden stakes.

Yout two should just look this up in the Penguin Dictionary of Smybols. I know the title sounds stupid, but it's actually a marvelously awesome book.
You actually made me tempted to get out of bed and go in to the library just for this... I'm good at resisting temptations, but god damn, this is an achievement.

That and silvers natural properties kills off microbes, bacteria, and possibly other things on a cellular level. So in a way it would negate or slow down a vampire or werewolf regenerative abilities. Even better if you have it blessed.
One. Am I allowed to schedule additional donations?
Two. Can said donations be arranged in a mutually beneficial manner IE you get free snacks and protection from various threats whereas I get a companion and am not as likely to die to a random thug.

Depends on the lore but it should be possible if you keep predator/prey relationship logistics type stuff in mind; one person might not feed a vampire for very long safely, but a few dozen people donating blood in a cycle might.
Oh man, looks like I've started quite a discuss there... So:

Im not sure where did you found it, but i honestly can't agree with that. In most of cultures, both acient, medival and modern, silver is considered pure metal (partialy because of anti-bacterial (and other pathogen) cellural level activity, as somebody mentioned before) - meaning it's used to fight the impure entities as demonic and bionecrotic (dead but seemingly animated by something) ones. Vampires, as clearly part of the second ones, so the silver have to have great impact of them. Also, about werewolves - they are usualy considered as more 'natural' in origin than two types i mentioned before. Which means that they have not react to special features of anti-evil weaponary. However, if I was about to hunt one, I proabably will use iron, becaus of it character as 'stable ore' - as it should interfere with lycantropes instability (ability of shape-shifting), therefore negating most of they unnatural abilities.
