I couldn't say for sure, but it seems like he's randomly demonstrating the difference between picks and a bee abdomen. That makes no effing sense to me.

after reading the source’s description on twitter I think I might have an idea for what it means now...
it mentions the character “drawing themself in two” so they “would have a friend.” I’m guessing the 2 bees in this picture are the character’s two halves.

The pickaxes engineer is pointing at are two weapons in TF2 (the equalizer and escape plan) which were once one weapon.

The escape plan gave the user increased speed and damage when held based on how low their health was (less hp = more sp/dmg) but valve decided to balance the weapon by taking away the increased damage stat and putting it on a new weapon - the equalizer.

I guess it’s some sort of connection being made? I have no clue.
