I consider it a good thing when a creator can earn a living by making what they like making, be it porn or not. Porn helps induce is a valid emotional response in a viewer, just as horror, drama, and action do. If they'd prefer not making as much porn, I'd agree that it would be nice if they could do more of those other things too.

A commission is a commission, they'd get the same amount either way for their time. Having their talent delving into porn opens their pool of customers.

Talent like this is clearly best used by making porn; freelance, big audience, can be done from home, commissions, freedom, etc. Porn will never go out of business, there will always be horny people. So I'm not sure why you're blatantly suggesting that this artist should go do something else.

Porn art may not be (very debatably) as elevated an art form as landscapes or still lifes or fine abstract art, but honestly I consider it to be easily on the same "level" as comedy or cooking, they all seek to elicit a physical and psychological response such as laugh, joy, savor, salivation, erection, arousal, etc. and being a good chef is seen as something respectable. If it's because sex is nasty and shameful then I think that's a cultural thing that is long overdue to die. If it's because it's not as profitable as being an artist for a big game company, that makes sense, although there is a good deal of money to be made of furry smut as the demand greatly exceeds the production and is constantly renewed, but money is not the reason I draw, I keep my prices low and open commissions very rarely, this pic for example is not a commission, just sheer expression of lust, happiness and aesthetics.
I also do make a lot of things (perhaps a majority) that aren't erotic, like my comic on FA and other pics, some worldbuilding art I've yet to upload and other projects that I will reveal in time.
I'm currently in university studying something that I'd like to be my job. Art has never been my job, just one of my hobbies and I'd like to keep it that way :) I greatly enjoy making it and I hope it brings a small bit of pleasure to some of the viewers!
