    It's actually because the fur color of animals almost always affects their skin color too.
    (ie: White fur, pink/pale skin color, brown/black fur, black/dark-brown skin color.)

    It literally isn't.
    It's like why people have their genitalia a lighter (Or darker) color based on their natural skin tone.
    You can literally look up hundreds of pictures (Real pictures) of animals showing their bellies (Assuming they're not super furry there, and skin is impossible to see) and every time, the animals skin color will be based around their fur.
    (Light fur = light skin, and vice versa.)

    Certain animals have a natural predilection towards specific skin tones, or functionally have none at all (Reptilians, and I believe Avians qualify as well).
    Certain animals like horses (And the greater equine species, not just the horse sub-species), do have a uniqueness that can often times make their genitalia "mottled", "spotted" or "speckled", with a darker skin tone than what they naturally have.

    Also: The horse in question is probably from MLP (The dragon fits the style...) even if it's not tagged, and animals typically need to have either white, blond, or a mix of the two (Light grey might work) to have a light skin tone, which the aforementioned horse doesn't have.
