I personally never used it, but I know it did have a large following a few years back. I am a Linux user, and this program seems to be recommended a lot in their software stores to this day.

It's basically open-source Photoshop, which means you can add third-party plugins for additional versatility. Apart from proprietary filetypes, I use it for everything other than vector graphics.

traditional art = Krita
image manipulation = The GIMP
vector graphics = Inkscape
animation = I forget lol

animation and modelling = blender :)
blender also can video edit as well but it's not really worth the complexity unless your already doing some animations anyways.
for video editing that normally goes to kdenlive and then streaming goes to obs.
