But how does an angel not know latin?
Or did he just learn to speak the language of angels?

These two really need to learn latin.

I feel like its not actually Latin. Like, the mom and kid seem to hear perfect English, so clearly she can speak intelligibly.
Maybe it's meant to represent some kind of perception filter? Them both being "holy," they can't understand what a demon says?

Talk about getting hot in your guess.

Suppose that's one way to keep your troops from fraternizing with the enemy.
Literally make it impossible to understand them, with magic, presumably.

If anything, I would assume Latin was a human language. Possibly a newish one from the language split at the Tower of Babel. (I don't know a lick about it, other than people use it 'cause it's cool. Or in association to the Catholic church?)

I do suppose that an angelic being would have knowledge of multiple languages, given their stereotypical role as messengers. He does look like a lower angel that slacks off, so that's my guess as to why.

I guess you could spin it that way, yet it isn't something that is exactly cast upon them.

Haha, in a way you could say that Raziel has been slacking off. After-all, part of the reason why he can't understand Neri is because he hasn't... opened his mind to how things work. I think that is vague enough for those who don't know the story yet.
