If I remember the story of Alduin correctly, Alduin was more or less a prophecy of the end of the world that would come true one way or another and he was designed to be that way and he's just kind of doing his job. I don't know how deep Alduin's character goes as far as this "job"--whether he's truly evil or just hellbent on doing his job because it's his job--but on the surface, it's not really Alduin's fault for how he's portrayed as a villain lore-wise. XD
