    The latter could just be a continuity error but the suddenness of her being on the ground is really throwing me.

    You can't tell me things went to shit in the time it took for Leto to bring out the shower-head.

    When you inhale CO2, carbon monoxide, and cyanide (which is produced from a house burning), oxygen cannot bind to your hemoglobin, and so you pass out from lack of oxygen even if it feels like you're breathing fine. She is extremely drunk though, as shown by her not coughing to irritants in the air getting into her lungs (which is a side effect I've seen in lethally drunk fire-exposed victims).
