Patiently Waiting

I've messed around with digital art a few times in the recent past, and every time I did I felt like the result was pretty terrible. And yet, every time I did the pictures seem to get tons of love, the stats always look pretty darn good. As much as I was thought of as a traditional art guy (at least in 2D), it kinda feels like the furry world has a bit of a thirst for digital ru-art. So I've had it in my mind to mess around with it a bit more and, well, finally got around to it! We'll see how this one goes I guess. :P The picture itself is kinda nothing in particular, I'm pretty sure I've drawn this exact picture a million times by now, it was just a 'canvas' for me to fiddle with inking/colouring ideas on.

To say I've been practicing would be a lie, but I have been keeping an eye out for ideas on how to improve things since my last digital painting. I'd watch a tutorial here and there, file interesting ideas away in the memory banks. Today I dragged it all out and made this, and I gotta say I'm pretty pleased! Think I'm narrowing in on a digital style that I like. I'm still not confident enough to make a background digitally, that's something I'll have to explore a bit in the near future, but I think I've got some idea how I might want to tackle characters at least. Still have to work on improving my speed a little bit, but a good start.
