April 10th: The bill has been vetoed!
April 2nd: The politicians in Arizona are about to sign into law a bill that would mandate sites like e621 to either impose age verification on all users or be at a risk of lawsuits. Such system would be required to go through third party vendors, who in turn must go through a government database to verify every user's age. This is not only a major violation of privacy, but it also opens up a very real danger of identity theft through phishing schemes and other methods, not to mention that we would not be able to control any of that information to make sure it is permanently deleted after age verification is complete.
Unfortunately, Arizona is the state out of which e621 operates, which means that this law will almost certainly affect us if it is to pass. If want to help us ensure that this site can continue to serve you without being required to know who you are, please ask the Arizona governor to veto this bill.
Please, help us get the word out by letting others know about this issue.

We still have a Discord server, come talk to us!

MemberThey said they're taking a step back from art until further notice, for undisclosed reasons. Maybe one day they'll return.

MemberBut... why wipe their galleries? This is far from the first time and I always wonder, why do artists do this? I need help... relating to it; I'd never dream of wiping my previous work if I took even an indefinite, hellish-stress-induced break from it...

MemberTwitter is gone yes, but they did not wipe FA though, it's just disabled.

JanitorThat's more of a technical oversight or omission on FA's part. The expectation on gallery sites is that disabling your userpage would also hide or delete your posts. This is how Twitter and DeviantArt operate. For some reason, FA doesn't follow industry standards here and keeps links to individual posts active.
Don't get me wrong, it's useful for archival, but I think it's usually a lack of awareness on artists' part that posts are left accessible on FA after disabling their account. Since the account is disabled, they also don't get the opportunity to hide or delete them if they are made aware of this after the fact.

MemberTrue, my point was in this specific case that he still has chosen to disable it rather than outright delete it.
