Leto... NO. It makes me mad to see people cling to the vices of their parents when it didn't end well with their parents.

BlockedI really don't want to be the guy who says this because I know it's supposed to be based on true experiences, but...I honestly think this comic is starting to go over-the-top. I feel that, since this comic is based on multiple people's experiences, that they're all just being combined together to tell a story that's far worse than any of the individual experiences were.
Now don't get me wrong! I sympathize with Leto. I REALLY sympathize with those people whose experiences this comic is based on GREATLY. But I feel like this comic is like taking the story of one person who lost their right arm, one person who lost their left arm, one person who lost their right leg, and one person who lost their left leg and combining them all into one character that lost all their limbs. The totality of the comic is blowing the individual experiences out of proportion. Yes, the experiences of those individuals were horrible, traumatic, and most likely outright evil, but if you want to make people aware of a very real problem in this manner, I would think it'd be best NOT to dramaticize it. Make it as real, as believable, and as serious as you can. This comic, like I said, is starting to feel over-the-top.
Now...if this comic is based on ONE TRUE experience...I want to meet the person that suffered. I want to lay a hand on their shoulder and do whatever I could to ease whatever suffering or doubt or confusion or whatever they may still have lingering from their trauma. ...Then I'd want to meet the real life equivalent of Reth... I won't say what I'd do to them, but I'll let you people use your imaginations.
I'll probably get downvoted for saying that this comic is starting to become over-the-top, but I just feel that it's passing the point of believability. Not the message it's trying to send, but the comic, itself.

MemberPeople who are groomed are more likely to display deviancy from the "norm" (norm being the overwhelming majority of people who display an affinity for one thing over another), especially with pedophiles as Leto has become. The majority of non-offending pedophiles I've had contact with—a small number because all of them were from prisons and had been raped—say they were sexually abused as kids (smaller percentage were groomed). I'm not really allowed to ask what they got arrested for (not in sexual assault protocols), but majority displayed a desire for therapy and ~50% expressed a desire to commit suicide (this number might be lower than reality because my uniform may affect what people confide to me. They may believe expressing a desire to commit suicide to a perceived authority figure will get them sent straight to the mental institution). I could only take the story so far with my own experiences because, while I have been groomed and all that parent drama/neglect happened to me, I am not a porn addict nor pedophile, which was the intended outcome of this story. I pulled from those who were. I tried my best to use the instances that correlated most from the individuals I talked to (alcoholism, guilt with owning CP/feeling sexually attracted to children, porn addiction, having been exposed to porn or sexual abuse early as a child). This was the result. The one instance that occurred with 100% of them that I did not include was the rape (which was how I ended up meeting them in the first place). That doesn't negate the fact that the comic reads as over-the-top. I can understand why it reads that way. In a way, I agree. At what point does a person stop and look at their life situation and say "maybe I need to stop"?
