  • That's the worst way to start a phone call.
Leto I get you're drunk off your ass and making bad choices but come on, at least keep some phone etiquette.

The sad part is I wonder if had he been more clearheaded and maybe ask for help (Even if keeping the details vague maybe) he probably wouldn't be falling so much. Damon's probably one of the only people left he's got a somewhat healthy friendship with and welp, drunk dialing and guilt and all is gonna mess that up too.

    GDI Leto, stop. x3x

Unfortunately, the way it works, in this or any other world, is...

If you DO good, you ARE good.

If you DO evil, you ARE evil.

What other standard can there possibly be? Within what rational framework can he say "I've done REAL bad things", and in almost the same breath, "I'm a good kid". The contradiction is staggering; you simply can't have it both ways. This is the kind of thinking that can produce suicides and serial killers...if the brakes don't kick in soon, there's no limit to how deep the darkness can get...

You do realize that this black/white line of thinking is VERY, well I won't say problematic as that word has been abused for so long it means nothing nowadays, but something along that word either way?
The world doesn't work on a "You're either 100% perfect or 100% bad just by the thing you do" logic, there's a reason concepts like moral grayness exist, and why moral alignments like chaotic good and whatnot are used a lot as well (Even if the latter is more on a fictional case as you can't put a label on someone and stick with that forever) If you believe that doing one morally bad thing makes you the worst person in existance, than those out there that probably killed someone are the worst people alive.... even if those they killed probably struck first.

"If you do good you are good, until you do bad, then you're AUTOMATICALLY BAD BAD BAD GO TO HELL THERE IS NO INBETWEE-"
No, there IS an in-between, everyone has the possibility and potential to be morally grey, and some people can come back from doing bad things and redeem themselves to be good, nobody is perfect. The only time someone IS bad is when they let themselves be. Reth is bad because she uses excuses to do all the bad things she did and indulges in the bad with no regret. Leto is WORRIED about being bad to the point the guilt's literally eating away at his conscious, but because of Reth, he can't get help because she made him as bad as she is, to the point that getting that help may or may not automatically put him in jail based on the child porn thing alone if they don't hear him out on why he's looking at it (Been groomed to be into that by an adult at a very young age). Had Reth not come around, I doubt Leto would be in as deep as this hole is for him, his life would still be shit, but the porn addiction that's ruining his life rn as enabled by Reth would not be there.

Tl;Dr Version: Your """advice""" is bad and you should feel bad.

  • Damian recognizes that Leto is drunk and is trying to get him to hang up before he says something he'll regret.

He is probably worried and that could be why he isn't hanging up himself.

I think that if I were Damian, I'd just tell Leto what he wants to hear (just so the conversation doesn't drag on), confirm that he isn't...in the mood to do anything rash...then hang up and talk to him about it seriously when he's sober.
Make sure he's okay but don't give him the chance to humiliate or make an ass out of himself.

Be a supportive friend but don't make yourself solely responsible for others -- it isn't healthy for either of you.

  • It's like that scene in Bojack where he asks Diane to tell him he's a good person. Bojack knows how much of a fucked up person he is, so he resorts to the person he trusts the most and sees as what a good person should be, and asks her if he is a good person, to get her validation, to get hope that he isn't far too deep to go back and get help.
