It's suggestive and shows skin. That guarantees someone's going to pay to get it colored.
It's actually quite clever of Tom. Take Patreon requests from paying members, make sure at least 1-4 you accept per month have the possibility of being drawn that way. Release the sketch. Then wait for the people who are holding the $100/month Nora cards to cash them in. Rinse, repeat.

It’s $400, and I’m pretty sure he’s closing that tier. Too much work with everything else he tries to do.

Ah, I was misremembering it because it's 4 slots for 4 people, and was dividing the $400 by 4.
I doubt he'd close it, though. He's making bank on Patreon. Last I looked it was something like $8000/month. That's $96,000 a year before taxes. The Nora card tier is $4800 per year alone.
Patreon's making him so much money, it's apparently the reason why the main comic has slowed to a crawl, as he's concentrating on Patreon sketches and full-color images over the actual comic.

I don't really mind though these side sketches are amazing content is being produced regardless I'm glad Tom exists

They are just by Patreon votes. However, some Nora card owners don't immediately make a color request, but sit on in for months, so there's still the occasional Nora card in the pipeline before they're all used up.

I wouldn't mind if not for the fact that the main comic has slowed to a crawl now because of it. I remember not only when it was weekly, but at one point in the distant past sometimes we'd get two pages a week.
I can't help but feel annoyed now seeing so many Patreon sketches + colored versions get popped out every month, at the expense of the main comic.
I *understand* it, because it's making him a ton of money. But at this point there's practically an AU comic going on.

MemberI’m pretty sure he has a backlog from when it was available, but otherwise yeah. I don’t think he does any on a whim though.
