As of late May,

Socks, the original owner and creator of the OC Whitty, has left the FNF' community due to issues concerning her character being Asexual. She does not appreciate how the community has treated her character when it comes to nsfw art including him and is opting out because of this. This probably means that Whitty is canned and won't be making any new appearances in the future for FNF.

Even though its a bummer. It's our fault for being horny and jerkin' off to an Ace character from a rhythm game.

I wouldn't say it's anyone's fault.
I'm extremly surprised that the author did not expect that once their character got popular people would make weird and sexual fanart of them.
I'd say the author is taking this a tad bit too seriously when they can't deferenciate their orginal work from fan made creations.

Lastly I don't think they have a say in this any longer, as it usually pans out, if the creator of the original work decides to abondon their project it becomes "public domain" as internet users "take up the mantle" and continue remixing their work. If we don't see any oficial work from the creator we will probably see a lot of unofficial work.
It may also happen that the creator might then decide to take legal action by which point they will become ostracised.
It's an unfrtunate part of becoming famous, however seeing as often as it happens and how many people are viewers to such displays, it does bring responsibilty of knowing that it can also happen to you. And as previously stated ther creator perhaps should have expected this, and it's pretty unexpected that they didn't.

That is what I thought about too. If she lets go of him as her oc, Whitty's ownership will belong to the fnf community. And if that's the case, its the community who will decide on his fate as a character. And yes, nobody is at fault because we weren't told or shown that he was ace in the mod. So what really ruined it all was just bad first impressions by the modder nate.

But truthfully, she was weak for not expecting the worse out the community. Hell, the actual fnf devs probably won't give a shit if they got sent MotherMILF X BF porn because they know it's all just a fictional game with fictional characters.
When you want to show everyone your character, always imagine and expect porn of them wither you like it or not. Because at the end of the day, it just goes to show that they appreciate your character and the content you are doing.
