  • I have to wonder if this is all foreign territory for her, being hated by someone, typically whenever we hear about her from others or see her, she is always caring and seen as a mother to all, as well as overall others treat her with kindness and respect. It makes me wonder if this is the first time in some century or two, or more, that she's ever had anyone hate her to such a degree.

Well, I wouldn't be surprised. Even if she didn't mean to, she was indirectly responsible for Nigel's situation. His parents essentially abandoned him because he didn't become a guardian (though I am curious as to why they were quick to abandon him despite him being able to try again next year, was there something special about getting in the first time?).

And when Nigel understandably confronts her, all she has to say is that he needed to have a reason to become a guardian other than trying to please his parents. And while she is probably not meaning to, she seems to come off as unintentionally ignorant or naive to Nigel's plight (she could simply not know what happened with his parents, but still)

So, in Nigel's perspective, he didn't become a guardian, and his parents abandoned him... because the Tree thought he needed to learn a lesson, and doesn't seem to care (or know) that his parents no longer love him. Not justifying his behavior, but I can understand why he would be pretty f***ing pissed.

On another note, I am a bit confused as to why Nigel says the Tree is selfish.

  • Mira wouldn’t win. She is unbridled. Nigel Is angry yes but he is controlled. Not to mention he has training. All he would have to do to win is evade and let her tire herself. But he didn’t come to fight, and that’s what makes him more dangerous. Zummeng I don’t know how you do but I feel for the character. Good job.

His parents still love the tree and not him. From his prospective it seems like she has to have all the attention and love in the world. Because growing up he saw how much his parents gave to the tree but the moment he couldn’t give it as well he was abandoned. Or he could actually be talking about his parents and his brother. And he just told the tree and himself that he was the one being selfish because he wanted all the attention from his parents. Anger as a way of showing all your pain and somehow shows the truth.

    Sounds like Nigel's parents a
were trying to live out their dreams through him. When that didn't work out, they decided to shun and abandon him(a lot of parents are like that. I'm also speaking from personal experience).

I hope luna Will give piece of her mind to nigels parents after this encounter

We never have seen the Tree angry with anyone before. Seems this story is starting to get interesting.

Alright, I can understand why the kid is mad, but throwing stones? Cmon man

Well, kids almost always throw things when they are having a tantrum (even when understandably mad), and it's not like in such a state you'd choose to throw GRASS or LEAVES at the person you're mad at...a rock is hard and hurts to be hit with, so since that's what's at hand, that's what he throws.

She needs to learn just like him, that despite respecting life, she needs to be more blunt, it isn't that his parents were guardians, its the fact that they see themselves above luna's position, they created a monster that they can only control and therefore dictate who lives and who dies.

She needs to tell him the truth, that his parents only bread him for one purpose, to do their bidding, that despite them not being evil, they would be ignorant to the plights of others and dictate who lives and dies over luna's omnicience.

Thats usually what happens in these scenario's, he not their son he's their benifactor, who cares who lives or dies, as long as they get to be hero's, as long as they get to make the "tough" decisions (read as: selfish) whats a few hundred lives?

Thats what i feel is wrong here.

probably not, she's lived a while and kids are prone to mood swings and all

I imagine however that this was not a simple mood swing, this was all something that easily leads to someone falling into chaos (in this world), or taking their own life (in ours). Though saying that, she probably just treats this as a mood swing when she really really shouldn't have.
