As a wise woman once said

Do you know why the 'dinosaurs' perished when they were prospering on this earth?

It's because they were idiots who didn't understand the concept of 'Respect!

  • Oil Execs are totally bribing the Biden administration to shut down their oil pipelines, and promote a "green energy strategy" that involves building no new oil/gas power plants, doesn't attempt to stabilize oil prices, and promotes the mass purchasing of batteries sourced from China.

The Democratic establishment is well aligned with Corporatists, just not those ones. Now, if that hand said Bank Of America, where John Kerry works, then we can talk.

Actually the hatred for nuclear power and the support for wind/solar is heavily funded by people with an investment in natural gas. Due to the inability for wind or solar to base load our power grid, and their complete inability to load follow when demand changes, they necessitate the use of small natural gas stations. And those technically count as "wind/solar" plants so they're not banned under anti coal/gas legislation.

Nuclear is the future, and it's the ONLY option for a carbon free one. Ask yourself why the US government has bipartisan hatred of it and follow the money.

Oh what the hell, just for shits n giggles, I'll throw my 2 cents in here:

Hey wasn't there a miniseries recently on some place called Chernobyl?

    Rant on nuclear safety.

    Safety standards matter.
Besides, coolant & throttling systems are being improved at the standard rate in line with R&D & tech advancements.
& it turns out the waste products can still be used as fuel until the fission process finally results in stable isotopes.
    Not to mention Thorium.

But you know... even all that still needs funding.

I recently found a informational video explaining that when you combine all nuclear accidents or meltdowns together (not counting military bombings ofc), the resulting deaths & disfigurements from them is under 5k. Keep in mind that number is across >6-7 decades<.

    Also. Chernobyl?
    Really?
You scraped the bottom of the barrel with that.
Back to all the other nuclear accidents that >weren't< Chernobyl, none of them were even a >quarter< as bad. Not even Fukushima, where most of the deaths are >actually< from the tsunami & flooding. Not that it would matter much since the number of accidents is under a dozen. The majority of all those nuclear deaths & disfigurements do come from Chernobyl though, but again, that's bottom of barrel.

    For my final point... France.
Should be slag by now if nuclear is that bad.
Not to worry though, because the population has bought the fearmongering like you have & intend to ruin their use of it.

I thought it says „no posting political stuff“ in the code of conduct? 🤔

    Explanation

    That's currently only limited to:
"Major Religions, Religious Figures, Political Parties, or Political Figures".
    & that only applies to:
"... forum posts, threads, or comments..."
    Not art.

Some here broke that. I do my best to avoid that.
But it's also difficult when the post itself is inherently political.
Because of that, the comments section of these posts end up "safe zones" for politics. So long as it's mostly relevant to the message of the art post.

    Or so I assume.

If any of us were to go completely left field & start talking religion, I'm sure warnings & suspensions would come down.
    & maybe not even then.

You suggest the art itself be taken down?
Because the Code of Conduct doesn't cover that.

It's a loophole for sure. I give you that.

  • When I see this post I think of this video that talks about the entire environmental impact of reusable bags and other "green" bags.
    https://youtu.be/JvzvM9tf5s0

What I got out of this picture is to say that we shouldn't fixate on plastic bags since they are not the really the main issue with the world in terms of Climate Change, Pollution, littering, etc.

You know, I was going to reply with
"You definitely should have kept that change in your pocket instead of afflicting us with your uninformed and ignorant opinions."

But that would be less than constructive, and rude of me. So instead, how about this.
"I'm a nuclear power plant radiological safety technician and I believe you have a fundamental misunderstanding of current nuclear power plants in the western world. The pants used in the United states are extremely safe and we even lag behind countries such as france (who has an exceptional nuclear fleet and spent fuel recycling system). American and European plants are so negatively reactive (not really the correct term but it's easy to visualize) that your job in the control room is basically fighting to keep them on, as they're constantly trying to shut off on you.
If there's anything you'd like an industry or safety professionals perspective on, I'd be happy to try and provide you with as much information as possible. Clearly I will be a bit biased, but I feel my position is well founded and factual."

  • Even as a democrat, I can't say this is wrong. Most of the politicians calling for us to fix climate change, left and right, are taking huge cutbacks from fossil fuel companies. The worst part is they don't even try to hide it, even though it's clearly corrupt. That's why we're still pissed at em for not doing enough. No matter how many reusable bags we get, we still can't fix these problems without HUGE changes to the world.
