That's half the point of it, Valve really woke up and said "Fuck Nintendo"

When valve comes out of the basement and says “fuck (insert company here)” you KNOW even they fucked up

    Cool Game Gear 2.0, bro.

There's literally no reason to get this over a normal desktop or laptop other than irrational frothing hatred for nintendo.
Also, there's been "portable PC" consoles for awhile. This is nothing new. It's hilarious people think this is going to change anything.

    1. Its been mentioned that any USB/Bluetooth can be plugged into it so it can have a KB/M if you want. Also it's a handheld so complaining about no KB/M is weird.

    2. At most its only $100 more than a switch and when the OLED comes out, it'll be $50 more. Of Course it won't have any Nintendo exclusives, but it can either have your steam library or if you want you can replace the OS and make it an emulator machine and then you can have those Nintendo exclusives.

    3. Yea probably.

For $400 its a very good budget PC, that is also portable. Also there is plenty of reason to hate Nintendo and the Deck should hopefully be good competition for them. From what I could look up on the other Portable PCs they are expensive as hell, and like I said earlier, the Deck is fairly inexpensive comparatively.

If you want pc games on the go this is the best possible thing that could've happened.

Good controller built in, no awkward laptop kb+m or external controller, plus steam input configurations.

**Standardized** hardware- devs actually have a more common target if they want to cover the portable pc market, since this opens that door wider; the Chinese pocket pcs were all different so making games sure to run there would be almost nil.

Also it's crazy affordable and I'm excited that a pc designed for games is this affordable.

I signed in just to post this, look at me fanboying. : p

    >no keyboard+mouse
    get a laptop
    >not upgradeable
that's the same as a switch
    >no nintendo games
has the entire catalogue of steam games which is much better
    >less battery life
to be expected from a fucking portable pc running much better graphics probably

  • The fact that people can’t understand that these consoles focus on 2 different audiences really shows how slow people have become

Having access to the entire Steam library means you cover literally every audience and then some. The Switch has catered to the indie market pretty well regarding consoles, but Steam blows it out of the water in that area as well. That only really leaves the Switch with Nintendo titles to really crow about as a selling point. I like Nintendo but if the steam deck takes off then its going to be some very stiff competition. Its an actual choice over the Switch where before there was none like it.

I’m glad the Switch is finally getting real competition. I got an OLED because of the indies and exclusives. Now I can look forward to playing even more indies on the Steam Deal (if I can ever get one before they all get snatched up and scalped)

  • PLUS it's the ULTIMATE piracy device. i have like 300 hours on pokemon platinum and it was literally more expensive than to buy a steam deck and pirate it than buy a DS along with a legitimate copy
