Given that one of the Dark Party's big points is the possibility of the Psychic Party using their powers to control people's thoughts and opinions for their own gain, and a single(?) psychic type did just that to an entire stadium of people, and maybe the people watching via television as well?
The Dark Party wouldn't really need to spin the story that much either to get a lot of ammunition against the Psychic Party.

The camera's get turned off whenever the afteraction starts. I assume that they did the same here because it'd be protocol whenever someone loses.

Except that the broadcast operator is cacturne, which is a dark type. So they might not even have known it was happening and kept rolling.
