  • A friend of a friend dropped the idea that Hisuian Arcanine is gonna resemble a shishi statue, and as someone with a great affection for those statues I got excited at the prospect. I really it happens

Considering there were Growlithe statues from a Gen 2 beta dump that looked like said statues, this is very likely.

Well, Growlithe/Arcanine are based on shisaa, so it'd make sense they'd be based on the Chinese variant thereof.

That's funny, it feels like Game Freak is going back and reworking old, cancelled/shelved ideas

I mean in general since they did bring back a few old ideas (like reviving that farfetch'd evolution), but that is a good point! I only have one question tho: How do these guys go extinct?
Fr tho, these guys are old Pokémon, and yet they're not anywhere in the modern Pokémon world. I've already started thinking about them like mammoths or aurochs, animals that were once contemporary with human but went extinct for one reason or another

    It's possible they're a dodo/great auk situation (i.e. caused by humans).

That's a sad thing to think, considering the depth of the connection between humans and Pokémon, both in the past and in the modern day world in the Pokémon universe
