Description

Next big project! This is basically a tribute to one of my favorite games Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Explorers of Sky/Time/Darkness.
If you like story driven games and Pokémon I recommend you to play it, it is basically an emotional rollercoaster with dungeon crawling in between :D I tried to capture that as well as possible.

Also, Ditto jokes never get old :D I couldn't resist adding that Smash Bros joke, though it's suuuper out-of-character xD

For anyone wondering how I made this: I basically programmed a game in the Godot Game Engine (Characters, Animations, Textbox, Emotes, ...) got a ton of sprites from the Pokémon Mystery Dungeon games and then animated everything in one big timeline. Good thing: I now have this framework that I can use for other scenarios! So if you have some ideas, post them in the comments!
I would like to see where else this could go ;)

Yes, getting all the sprites and putting together spritesheets was a shitload of manual work, still I don't take credit for them. That would go to A) the community over at spriters-resource.com (I made sure NONE of the sprites I took required giving credits and ripped myself whenever I couldn't find such sprites. Special thanks to the user redblueyellow! Though I'm not sure he would approve of this scenario...?) and B) the amazing artists of this game. Just think of the amount of work to put together the animated overworld sprites for EVERY SINGLE POKÉMON and the emotionally expressive portraits (in the corners).

It felt wrong to make some explicit animations, since I wanted to focus on this cute relationship instead.

Though I feel quite confident in my english, it's not my native language. I hope there are not too many mistakes... Let me know if you find some. Though I'm not sure I would like to re-upload a fixed version...

On the very slim off-chance that you are reading this argonvile - let's do a cooperation! I love your art (been for years now xD)! Especially your older comics with charmeleon and croconaw. Pretty sure this project was somehow inspired by you :) You've seen what I can do, but my free-hand drawing sucks. I was thinking an interactive version of the daycare comic with lots of different Pokémon and stuff to discover, similar style but with explicit still images in between ;)

Sorry for writing so much, but I've been thinking about this project for a long time now.

    This is super good even without explicit scenes. Even back when I was a still kid I've always pictured them getting together after everything that happened, and for some reason I just noticed I always make them both guys. Huh...

    Well, time to replay the game for the 50th time.

    The bond between the two shown in the game just seems stronger than a regular friendship. When I was a kid, I did not really feel a distinction between gender in the games at all. You could select gender and all the wild Pokémon technically had one, but it's not like you would see a difference :D

    Haha good thing I'm not the only that has played the game way too often :D

    Okay, technically true :D He can learn the two most powerful fire attacks however (at least at my time): flame storm and eruption. My guess is they only made him ground type because he's supposed to have created the continents and there were already multiple fire legendaries. If there was a magma type, he would be that. So i thought it would make sense that a steel type would be afraid of that :D
    Plus ground type is actually double effective against Lucarios fighting/steel combination. I hated earthquake in tournaments! xD

    Yeah, that hit me hard pretty much. I got in contact with the moderator and he explained the situation. This kind of stuff is - unfortunately - not allowed by e621e rules.
    So no hard feelings (anymore xD).

    I put in on my (newly created) twitter and am currently looking into alternative platforms also.
    I dont wanna put my twitter link here, but you can find me by my new name "Pixaeron"
    Platforms i am considering are:

    • e621, but doesn't allow animations like this with no self-drawn stuff
    • Twitter, but has a maximum video length of 2:20 => 3 parts for this animation...
    • FurAffinity, no videos (except gifs) at all
    • InkBunny, actually allows video upload, as i just noticed. Not sure about the rules there, though

    It makes me happy to see that people are interested <3
