I'm super intrigued to see how Catti plays a role in the story of this game. She obviously has some story beats that probably neither the player or kris is unaware of

That’d be really cool.
Thinking about it, Catti had just as much time I’m ch1 as noelle, less dialogue, but just as present. Now that the precedent has been set for party members/enemies with noelle and berdly , catti is a good candidate for a significant plot presence, in the dark world. Probably not for ch3, cause the fountain in kris’s house, but perhaps later.
