MemberIndeed. Holding the blade in the reverse grip causes more problems than it's worth. You need two things to win a sword duel: proper distance and timing. With a reverse grip not only are you giving up reach, but also valuable split seconds per strike.
Also when you actually make contact with your blade in the standard grip position the impact recoil is directed into the web of your thumb. With a reverse grip it goes into your forefinger, which is much less structurally sound. The only reason the reverse grip works with knives is because of the difference in leverage between the shorter blade and the much longer sword.
But I agree, it does look badass as hell.

MemberUnless you're using the reverse-grip as a defensive rather than offensive measure. You can 'forearm block' with a reverse-grip, which is the natural defensive instinct, and it has other uses, including throwing off the timing of an opponent who isn't prepared for it. Those split-seconds per strike work both ways.
I'm not claiming it's an ideal method, but it's not as useless as you're claiming it is.
