Yeah, after a quick Google it seems their tail tip fur pattern tells you their gender... I just learned that and I feel like a fake fan now!

As I said before, the tail is not enough to determine the pokemon's gender, that would violate the "tag what you see" rule. this is one reason the "ambiguous_gender" tag exists.

one way to follow the rule would be to forget everything you know about the character. by doing this, you will always tag correctly.
