Feb 26th:A new bill in Arizona is making its way through the Senate that would force sites like e621 to implement mandatory age verification for all users—or face potential lawsuits. This system would require third-party vendors to verify every user’s age through a government database. Not only is this a massive violation of privacy, but it also introduces serious risks, including identity theft through phishing schemes and other malicious methods. Worse still, we would have no control over ensuring that user data is permanently deleted after verification.

Since e621 operates out of Arizona, this law would almost certainly impact us if it passes. If you want to help ensure that we can continue serving you without being forced to collect personal information, we urge you to contact Arizona’s senators and ask them to vote NO on this bill.

Please help spread the word about this issue and encourage others to take action.

Positive

Lumina set the test down on the counter and began pacing around the bathroom. Her heart seemed to race against the timer as it ticked down on her phone. Tick. Tick. Tick. Her thoughts were so loud in her own mind that she could barely hear the soft voice from the hallway.

“Are you okay in there?” Eve asked, providing a small tap against the door.

Lumina thought back to the time where the roles were reversed and almost laughed at the irony. She remembered thinking, then, that Eve would be a great mom, and that either way it would be okay. But now, being the one waiting on the results, she understood the exact level of panic she must’ve been experiencing.

“Loomy? Can you give me signs of life?” Eve called out again, “I will break down your door if I have to.”

“It’s not showing any results yet.”

“What’s the timer say?”

“Two more minutes.”

“Okay, so, what can we do for two minutes to take your mind off of it?”

“I don’t think that’s possible.”

“I can tell you about the stupid customers I had at work today?” Eve suggested, leaning her large ears against the door as she waited for a response.

“Okay, yeah.”

“So I was serving this really picky lady during the lunch rush, right?”

“Mhm.”

“She ordered a burger, after taking like 20 minutes to look at our one page menu. Then, when I bring the burger out, she picks it apart, piece by piece, pulls the lettuce off of it, and holds it up for me to see. And she was like ‘this lettuce is limp, I need a new burger.’”

“A whole new burger?”

“A. Whole. New. Burger. Because of her lettuce.”

“Why are people so stupid?” Lumina rolled her eyes, as she let out a pained laugh, only to be interrupted by the loud trilling of her timer.

“What’s it say?” Eve asked, unable to hold back her excitement.

Lumina picked up the test, and with a small gasp, sat down, unable to stay balanced on her feet. “It’s positive.” She spoke, barely above a whisper.

“What?”

“It’s positive.” She tried again, this time, louder.
