Now, I'm mad about aliens in general, so I'm down for the more furry-ish Avali, o course.
That said, the raving xenobiologist in me means I adore the original Avali concept best. Nothin else like em out there.
Tiny cyberpunk ammonia-blooded angery raptor folks with a severe complex about humanoid aliens and compulsory extroversion? God I love creative alien designs.
I don't think their planet is at 60 bars though. You might be thinkin of the Volus from Mass Effect, cause they've both got that stanky Ammonia-based blood.
To be a liquid, Ammonia needs to either be fuckin freezing, or under enormous pressure. Volus come from a warm planet with an absurdly thick and dense atmosphere, and Avali come from an iceball planet cold enough that liquid water is basically magma.
> I checked. Avalon's only at 1.5 times Earth pressure, so it's definitely just so unbelieveably cold that Avali would be like Canucks in Death Valley on a temperate planet.
Think the conceit is that most PC Avalis are usin Full-Body Cybernetics ala Ghost in the Shell to walk around alien planets. There's a Starbound mod what lets you play as the pint-sized pissraptors what they truly is, though.
Guess that means they have the tech to make a curvy humanoid chassis for their cyborgs, though, so you could absolutely justify it in "canon" whatever that silly word means.
Allat said, more power to ya mate! Yer art's been fantastic as long as I've been followin it, an yer Avalis are great too!

Memberi always called the canon avali "feral avali" because of their tendency to just bite you

MemberRyuujinzero has plans to update the lore to be more "friendly" after he made Avalis CC BY-SA, so this might not age well...

MemberReally justifying that the Avali can put augments to the point of completely replacing all their biological parts, it is possible that they can exist on hostile planets, consuming foods that are generally toxic to them, including… touching water. Literally. Canon specs always refer to the native Avali of Avalon, I guess. You can play with the augments as much as you want to canonize an Avali... kind of weird, but possible if you have a lot of imagination. Anyway, what does it matter? Do what you like with your Avali, the point is to enjoy the flyffly raptors!

Memberthe wiki says the Avali home planet, Avalon, has 50% the surface pressure of Earth. I think that's 1.5 atmospheres, not 60; Avali could probably survive earth's pressure without augments, but not the temperature and perhaps not the composition.
Also, are they stinky because they're NH3 based rather than H2O? lmao

Memberi mean, if we're talking about 'probably', then avali could probably survive on earth for alot longer than you might think. -70C is considered cold to them, it's around the temperature that ammonia freezes. so like 0C for us. It's likely they live at a bit higher temps than that, better, as avians/dinos don't tend to workout well at the same temp their blood would freeze at. however, it should also be noted, they live on a planet with less gravity, and probably less pressure. And avali are said to still need water, in their body, despite the ammonia biology. Considering the sub-Antarctic temperatures, they've gotta have some real good water retention. put all together, means if you put avali on earth, it'd be a high pressure, meaning a higher bowling point, so they wouldn't just boil away, and depending on where you put them, they'd probably be able to survive without any clothing as well as a clothed human would survive at ~70C, probably better actually due to the improved water retention and higher boiling temps than they're used to. and, they're still carbon based, so they wouldn't have issues with their body breaking down the way a human's would till ~42C which, we wouldn't survive either.
TL;DR Avali could probably survive at a comfy human 21C due to still being carbon based, having wonderful water retention, and comming from a lower-pressure environment. Would they last alone and without clothing indeffinitely? no probably not, but it's not as dire as many make it out to be.
