    Actually since Gen 1! Pokémon Red and Green were still technologically unimpressive for being on the Game Boy and had more bugs than Pokémon, including countless integer overflows and even a nasty arbitrary code execution vulnerability (actually, several). But then again, Pokémon hasn't ever been a game people played for its technological prowess (which is essentially none), it's played for its concepts and characters.

    Also, one-two-three-four I spot a gen war.

    The problem has nothing to do with the franchise. It has to do with the people who still buy that crap despite basically no meaningful changes or evolutions to the series, giving Game Freak zero incentive to give a shit. Last I checked, Pokemon is still the highest grossing media franchise in the world unless Winnie the Pooh or Hello Kitty beat it, which I doubt. If someone told me I could do nothing and increasingly earn more millions a year, then nothing is exactly what I'm going to do unless I have an artistic soul, which Game Freak clearly does not have.

    Rather than the BoTW of Pokemon, we got Arceus lmao, a game that should have come out back during the gamecube era and still would have been crap then. The only thing pokemon is good for to me now is porn.

    Speak for yourself. Perhaps the reason people keep buying them despite having relatively few major changes with each game is because, at the end of the day, they're boatloads of FUN. And if they keep being fun, people are going to keep buying them.

    Pyrocynical recently on Stream just talked about this very issue with the franchise, the new Zelda game, Nintendo as a company, & soy Nintendo Fans as a whole.
    His Gf is a really big pokemon fan, & buys every new game that releases on the switch when it comes out, day one/preorder kinda deal. Pryo said every new pokemon game that comes out for the switch either runs like shit, & or looks like shit. And even though His Gf agrees with that statement, she still will buy the next new game when it comes out.
    Complete & utter mental illiness.

    I'm sorry, it had to be said. Arceus was actually pretty good, but Sw/Sh was.. well, a disappointment. It does have the distinction of being the first save I've trained a 'mon to Lv. 100 on, though (My marked Shiny Liepard, caught within an hour of starting the save).
