Actually I think your supposed to read this comic from right to left like a manga. My guess is the creator of this is from Japan, or another Asian country where you read from right to left. I’d say the mom gave him her wedding ring.

From what I've seen, this comic is read right to left.( I tried reading it left to right and some of the pages didn't make sense until I read it right to left.)
