Their innocent smile calms the soul, and they are bringers of good luck; all of these traits make them very popular Pokemon to be kept by people. As Togepi are baby Pokemon, they are not lewd by nature. While they can be coaxed into activities due to naivety, being too aggressive with a Togepi is not recommended. Malicious people who take the innocent Pokemon’s smile away will feel their happiness and positive energy drained, a subconscious defense mechanism of the Togepi. Malevolent souls do not get blessed with their joy.

Considering teh sheer number of sexual predators in this version of the Pokemon world, probably a good thing they have some defences.
