  • That's unfortunate. Hopefully they get out of this mess without dying. You know a war is going badly when the artists are drafted.

Yeah, that was kinda my point. Kinda hard to mistake the orcish flag these days.

I believe life expectancy from the date of the draft letter is three weeks on average. I'm not joking.

Actually they're being required to buy the tampons themselves.

I hate this fucking war. Someone needs to force Putin to stop. Or kill him and replace him with someone who will.

Unfortunately, there is no one with the power to demand Putin to stop. There have already be many attempts by the UN but they don’t have power over him in that way. Also, even if someone were to kill Putin, it is very likely he would be replaced by someone equally bad or worse. It’s a terrible situation, but it’s the one we’re living in. The only way to remove the power of the corrupt government in Russia is for the population we’re to be backed by a major military and rise up against the government. They could then maybe establish a less corrupt democracy. The problem is, many Russians aren’t able to have accurate news so they don’t even really know what’s going on. What needs to be done is to find ways to get unbaised and non corrupt news into that area in a way that the Russian government can’t limit.

I think I started to ramble by the end of that. Anyway, I wish your friend luck in this difficult time. May they return safely.

  • I still don't know what I find scarier: a Ukrainian victory (possible real-life Fallout outcome knowing Putin and his oligarchs) or a Russian victory (for the obvious reasons).

Avoid mobilization, or if you're already in Ukraine, surrender immediately by calling in advance +38 066 580 34 98 or +38 093 119 29 84 (24 hours a day) or use the chatbot 'I want to live,'"

Sound advice, honestly. As far as I know, Ukraine has maintained their policy of treating voluntary defectors well.
(Well enough at least... Not a high bar to cross with regards to treating them better than the Russian military.)

I think you're being unfairly downvoted.

People, he's not saying Ukraine winning in and of itself would be bad. But that Putin, being the warmongering nutter that he is, would likely fly off the handle and the situation could escalate to a global one: Nukes. Lots and lots of nukes.

If he surrenders Putin will kill him, but also, if he surrenders the Ukrainians will kill him. He is, for all intensive purposes, fucked. Hope they don't find out he's a furry as well, then he's def not making it home. Shit he's prolly already balls deep in corpses ammo casings and (bl)mud, just a matter of time til a 'Kranian drone drops a live hand grenade on his head. His best course of action would to probably be to deepthroat the barrel of his soviet era rust covered AK and take a forever sleepie. He'll either be put in a tank, where he'll be blown up, on foot, where he'll be blown up, or in a helicopter, where he'll be blown up. When did he make this? 9 days ago? yeah he's prolly dead already. Cheers, mate.

I know that BBC only source of information on west, but this is beyond my mind in that you can believe. In three weeks TF friend most likely not ended re-training. Total Russian losses around 6-8k, that in you count 200 thousand contract soldiers and 300 thousand mobilized - this is around 1%. Still war is always danger, but your "arguments" smell like ghost of Kiev.

    What's your source on that?

Even the number of 100% confirmed deaths is approaching 10,000. That's according to russian sources – taking into account that your government has a vested interest in suppressing or downplaying those numbers.
According to APNews, which is considered to be pretty damn trustworthy, the number of casualties may be as high as 100,000.

Is that number 100% accurate? Probably not. My guess would place the actual count around 50-80k.
But I find it a lot more believable – compared to the idea that after a heavily contested offense, followed by an equally heavily contested defense, the Russians only lost 1% of their troops.

    personally I don't care...
You aren't ready for war... No one is. War is not a game. It's a relentless nightmare where every living breathing second is a fight for survival. You're thrust into a chaotic battlefield, surrounded by the deafening roar of artillery, and the horrid stench of death lingering in the air. Everything is on the line; everything. Your life... Your family... Your home... your friends... your sanity... even if you make it out alive; you will remember... everything...
I just hope the war ends quickly, without her being neither an casualty or victim of PTSD... And I hope your friend, @totesfliesch8, does come back to you, for all our sakes and future condolences, and best wishes...
