I would imagine the AI developers would need to figure out a way to blacklist certain artists from their models.
Apparently, DeviantArt (which is where that description was copied from for courtesy's sake) has an approach they think will work. Whether that's a pipe dream or not is for the future to say.

The big problem with how DeviantArt does it is that everything was included by AI training by default. Artists had to opt out. Then trust that any AIs trained with their art would be retrained.
Have art excluded by default, with a better UI for changing the setting on all your art at once, would go a long way here.

Strange. As it stands now from a few days ago, DeviantArt excludes everything by default. Artists have to specifically opt in to AI training, otherwise they're (theoretically) off-limits to AI.

It's possible the note was added for when/if it was shared/crossposted. Considering Thibodeau's work often comes here as well, it isn't out of the realm of possibility it ends up on other boorus.

By default a limited blacklist has been applied hiding content that is commonly objected to. You may remove
items from this blacklist by using the blacklist menu item.

Allowing AI training should be an opt-in matter from an ethical standpoint.
