  • Had to leave my only friends/friend group because they practically bullied me on a daily basis for years… hardest thing I had to do, and for months and months after that I thought the loneliness would actually kill me.

Am happier now, this comic made me smile

my issue is when, for some reason people think they can suddenly tell me what to say and think. how is that not impeding on my rights?

Thing is this about someone wanting basic respect and kindness. If you think that is a bad thing then maybe it is better for them to cut you off rights or not be an ass and you should be treated as an ass

The only time I will try to tell someone what to say is when they're saying it *to me* and it's unwanted or unpleasant. As far as what people think, that's not even something I try to force, though I will sometimes try to influence it with my own words.

A most understandable and reasonable way to go about it thank you.

What rights? Even in the situation in the comic Green didn't tell the greys what to think or do. He just informed them of what HE would do given what circumstances. The greys opted to keep being dicks after he informed them he'd leave if they did that. So he left. Didn't do anything to them, either. Just left. What could possibly be the problem here?

There is none. This is the only reasonable way to deal with those who would seek to manipulate or control you.

Respect is a strange commodity...it cannot be demanded; it can only be earned. And, it is all too easily or carelessly lost, often beyond recovery.

You seem to have confused ‘right to free speech’ with ‘being entitled to other people’s attention and time.’

You’re free to be a toxic asshole, and everyone else is free to refuse to have anything to do with you and your toxic assholery.

  • As long as they're willing to do the same, why not be nice to someone and respect his or her boundaries? Nothing unreasonable about that as far as I can tell.
