Description

(Fuck it, I don't care if I get shitty comments, I worked damn hard on this!)

Original description:

I was thinking one day, "I REALLY want to draw a Chapelon 240P once again!" I also wanted to draw one with ponies, and so though, "Who would have a 240P, if the characters owned locomotives?" I figured, Rarity, even if she would be unwilling to do the actual dirty work.

Heh, there were two series. The first 12 (4700's, later 240A) were rebuilt from 4500 class 4-6-2's for the Paris Orleans Railway, and so had a white paint scheme that would match Rarity: here But...damn, look at all that exposed piping! Colouring would be tricky as well...

The second class of 25 (240P) were built for the SNCF railway (All previous ones were merged.). These had several improvements, (Such as mechanical stoker), so were a bit more powerful: 4,700hp, vs 4,200hp of the first ones. The best power/weight ratio ever! They were easier to draw with much of the piping hidden.

    Not bad. =^.^=

Thanks! There were a few problems, but it was my first time with this angle. At least I had a reference!

  • Good work the the details. I also think it's funny that on this post at 8/29/13 at the time it was posted, Rarity had 4449 for posts. 4449 is also the number for the Southern Pacific Daylight steam engine.

It's the number for the only surviving Daylight locomotive, yes. However, several Daylight locomotives were built. I had the pleasure of seeing that beauty roll through my town.

  • I noticed "4449" thing too, though it's gone now. I've never seen any of the famous steam locos that still operate, except for Southern 630.

However, there is #9, a big 0-4-0, in Denton, NC, and a few months ago, I took a few turns firing it for two days...X3 (It has a tendency to slip, since was built as a tank engine, but was rebuilt as a tender engine, thus reducing weight on drivers, but without reducing tractive effort.)

  • Dear Lord. Only e621 could go from talking about ponies to talking about locomotives in less than 10 minutes.

Heh, not exactly what I meant. I meant as far as furry-based sites go. Trust me man, I could talk cars ALL day.

All lines except straight ones are badly crooked. It's not supposed to be like that.

    Well I can't use a compass on anything but a dead-on side view, can I? :P

  • Honestly, that mountain looked like a big pile of crap in the thumbnail. You could've chosen another color instead of shit brown. °¬·
