Do people really eat Pokemon in the show?

I remember an episode that has this massive feast, and the centerpiece was a sliced Magikarp.

And also the lighthouse episode WAY bag in the original series--with Bill and the giant Dragonite--where Ash calls Professor Oak who's about to make dinner--out of a Krabby.

And in one of the games there was a folklore book that said once you consume a Pokemon, bury the bones in land or sea (if a fish-Pokemon).

There's also a Food Theory episode discussing which Pokemon would be best for ranchers to raise as food.

Considering Legends Arceus went out of its way to reference the old "Indian Elephant" comment in some Raichu pokedex entries and replace it with a Copperajah, I think they've officially retconned the existence of non-pokemon animals.

So yes, because we know not everyone in pokemon is a vegetarian. We SEE them eat meat on multiple occasions.

As well as multiple dex entries talking about the properties of 'fallen off' parts or using certain parts for things

There was an episode where Team Rocket cooked a Magikarp but couldn't eat it because it was like 90% bone & hurt their teeth.

  • See, all these comments are making me feel old since I remember one of the first episodes having ash catch a krabby and Oak commenting on it being too small to eat and that the one Gary caught would be perfect for a hearty meal.
