April 10th: The bill has been vetoed!
April 2nd: The politicians in Arizona are about to sign into law a bill that would mandate sites like e621 to either impose age verification on all users or be at a risk of lawsuits. Such system would be required to go through third party vendors, who in turn must go through a government database to verify every user's age. This is not only a major violation of privacy, but it also opens up a very real danger of identity theft through phishing schemes and other methods, not to mention that we would not be able to control any of that information to make sure it is permanently deleted after age verification is complete.
Unfortunately, Arizona is the state out of which e621 operates, which means that this law will almost certainly affect us if it is to pass. If want to help us ensure that this site can continue to serve you without being required to know who you are, please ask the Arizona governor to veto this bill.
Please, help us get the word out by letting others know about this issue.

MemberI never understood the tendency for people to use tumblr as their primary art page. People can't leave comments on the art there; perhaps they rely on e621 for that? :-p
That aside, I'm REALLY digging this series of pics... I guess she's a teacher?

BlockedWell, if you're looking for commissions, tumblr is pretty good at getting your work shared.

MemberIt can get your work spread at the speed of light and as people reblog the image they can add their comments.
But apart from ego stroking, which is taken care of by the reblogging, there is nothing to gain from comments so I don't see how that's a downside.

MemberThat's good to know! I haven't thought about it at first, but tumblr does make pics a bit more viral, doesn't it?
Well, I think comments are important for good suggestions and criticisms. Also, conversations about art pics are almost half of the fun! My motivation for viewing artwork is severely diminished if I can't do that, as would my motivation for making art.
But it's good to know you can add comments via reblogging; I didn't know that. Though I would like to be able to comment on a pic without reblogging, since reblogging shows the pic to all your friends, am I right? Which, if the art in question is furry porn, might not be a good idea for me, lol. I might suggest that artists on tumblr have their pics link to a "main" art page like DA or FA. This way, you get art spread by tumblr, but people can also visit the art page to discuss it.
I'm still in the early stages of trying out microblogging sites, so I hope I don't sound too uninformed :-p
