    That clawed gauntlet is impractical.

So are a lot of weapons. Impractical is not the same as ineffective. If those fingertips are properly edged (sure seem to be) and the wearer has trained in using it... seems plenty effective.

I don't think you know what impractical and ineffective means.

Is it wrong to find this slightly erotic?

Nope, as long as it stays fantasy. If you really want to kill someone IRL GET HELP.

Just takeing a shot in the dark here...

Impractical - Not suited for the job but works anyways.
Ineffective - Not ment for the job where something else could have greater effect.

Again, shot in the dark. :S Moving on!

Actually, that the definition of impractical. Impractical means it is unwieldy, unusable, or the drawbacks outweigh the benefits. Anything that is impractical is not effective.

Now, whether the gauntlet is impractical or not, I donno. As long as you take care not to hurt yourself (which, of course, is true for any weapon,) I wouldn't call it impractical off of the bat. However, I can't find any historical uses of a clawed gauntlet (there are, however, examples of spikes in the knuckles.) That might be because of limited reach, and that attempting to slice anything with claws on the gauntlet could cause force against the fingers and cause them to bend backwards unnaturally. They also wouldn't get good penetration and would only be good for surface cuts. It does, however, have the advantage of speed and ease of use, and the plating would make for good lightweight protection, though the spikes on the pauldron would be dangerous for the user.

  • Ineffective. Incapable of doing the job.

Impractical. Capable of doing the job, but there are better, or at least easier, ways to get the job done.

Is this in some way vague or unclear?
